Raymond Romano - As Ray Barone


Real Life- Raymond Romano

Born December 21, 1957 in New York City, New York, Raymond Albert Romano had people laughing all the time. He learned quickly in life that the best way to make friends is to make people laugh, and so he took up the art of comedy. At age 16 he did his first standup comedy act “No Talent”. He then attended college with a major in accounting. He continued standup, but on the side, for he needed to sharpen his act and hold a steady job before he could make a name for himself. In 1987, he married his wife Anna Romano. In that same year, he decided to pursue a fulltime career in comedy. He made quick success, and even got his own radio station-sponsored comedy act and began his fast track to fame. In 1995, David Letterman and Raymond began talks of developing a sitcom. One year later, on September 13, 1996, Everybody Loves Raymond aired for the first time, and would continue for almost 10 years. He is still married and has four kids with his wife. Character- Ray Barone

Ray Barone is a sportswriter living in Long Island, New York, with his wife Debra and three kids. His parents, Frank and Marie Barone, both live across the street and are not shy about coming over. This often sparks family disputes, which he seems to be in the middle of often. In self defense, he often falls back upon sarcastic humor, which gets him into even more trouble.

Patricia Heaton - As Debra Barone


Real Life-

Patricia Helen Heaton was born on March 4, 1958 in Bay Village, Ohio. She was would go on to graduate from Ohio State University. She then studied acting in New York and made her first Broadway debut in the musical “Don’t Get God Started.” She struggled in acting to make ends meet, even though she formed the acting company Stage Three with her friends. She then went to Los Angeles in the early 1990’s where she made a name for herself through the production “The Johnstown Vindicator.” She then appeared in several TV series and movies tell her role in Everybody Loves Raymond in 1996. Character-

Debra Barone is the wife of Ray Barone and mother of their three children, Ally Barone and twins Micheal and Geoffrey. She grew up in a wealthy family and has traveled the world, dated many famous men, and then married Ray Barone. To her shock and surprise, her step mother is not the quiet and nice person she thought, but is an overbearing, rude, and judgmental woman that makes it her goal to baby Raymond and insult Debra. This, to no surprise, often causes great feuds, but she often takes them to Raymond privately. Because Raymond does nothing to help the situations but laugh and watch TV, it creates an even better atmosphere for chaos, or humor, to erupt.

Brad Garrett - As Robert Barone


Real Life-

Born in Los Angeles, California, the 6 foot tall 8-1/2 inch giant Brad H. Gerstenfeld is hard to miss. He was born on April 14, 1960 and graduated from highschool in 1978. He then went to UCLA for a grand total of 6 weeks, after which he promptly dropped out and started comedy acts as a full time job. He acted in several shows and made appearances in talk shows as well, though he is more famous for his stand up than his acting. His most famous role is in the show Everybody Loves Raymond. He proposed to Jill Diven on the set of Everybody Loves Raymond in 1999 and they had two kids. They remained married tell 2007 after which they parted and filed for divorced.
Character-

Robert Barone is the older brother of Ray Barone. Even though he has a successful career as a police officer, he is jealous of Ray’s attention he gets from their mother. To him, Ray is the ideal of success, with a beautiful wife, family, well paying job, and great career ahead of him. While he is divorced, living with his parents, and as high up as he can go in the police force. This often causes brotherly disputes to arise, but they also end up making up and getting along at the end of the day. Robert, also called Robby, is also unusually tall, 6-foot-8 to be exact, which often prevents any love interest from women. Accompanied with all of his odd quirks that he displays, such as touching his food with his fork before eating it, almost eliminates any hope all together.

Peter Boyle - As Frank Barone


Real Life-

The life of Peter Lawrence Boyle Jr. was a long one. Born on October 18, 1935 he was around film from birth. His father was a child’s TV show host for many years in Philadelphia, where Peter grew up and attainted a Catholic high school. Even though he later went to a monastery during his college years, he later left after he lost “his calling.” He went on to study acting in New York, and was bent on becoming famous. He worked odd jobs like waiter, bouncer, newspaper boy, all while acting and waiting for his first big break. In 1965 he started to get noticed after he was on the national appearing of “the Odd Couple.” In the late 60’s, he began to make Broadway appearances and from then on out, he was acting full time all the time. In the 1970’s, he meat Loraine Alterman Boyle, and on October 21, 1977, they married. He played in over 100 movies and shows in his life time, staring in a total of 45. His most famous works would be the X-Files (1993), Scooby-Doo 2 (2004), Young Frankenstine (1974) and of course Everybody Loves Raymond (1996). Even though he suffered a stroke in the 90’s and lost his speech, he recovered and went started his career in comedy, playing in various humor roles and films. He and his wife had 2 children and remained married tell his death in December of 2006 from bone-marrow cancer. Through his life, he won 2 Emmy Awards.
Character-

Frank Barone is the husband of Marie Barone, father of Raymond and Robert Barone, and patriarch of the Barone family. He worked hard in his adult life to provide for his family, perhaps to hard. Because of his lack of affection he showed for his sons, which is often brought up in various episodes, there is a family tension that is sometimes brought up. He served in the Korean War, and people often wonder if that is where he got is cranky, rude, and insulting personality from because he will often publicly and shamelessly humiliate and ridicule anyone. He is also in the habit of making fun of other men if they are not “masculine” enough, calling them “peaches” or “Nancy”. His loud, obnoxious, and rude character annoys all in, and outside, the family.

Doris Roberts - As Marie Barone


Real Life-

Doris May Roberts was born on November 4, 1930 in St. Louis Missouri, and she is still alive and well at age 84. She always loved acting as a child, and early in life she started to take the stage. By the 1970’s, she was a 20 year veteran of acting before she began to make steady appearances in films and television. She brought a “mom-like” presence to the stage, and was an expert at playing sympathetic roles. She regularly appeared in the sticoms “Mary Hartman Mary Hartman” (1976) and “Angie” (1979). She fully embraced comedy though when the stared in the hit comedy of “Everybody Loves Raymond” (1996). She even won 4 Emmy awards because of her acting on the show. In 1956, she married Michael E. Cannata, but divorced him in 1962 with 1 child. She remarried the following year to William Goyen, and remained married tell his death in 1983. She is continually welcomed as star and guest star on films and television series alike.
Character-

If Frank is the patriarch, you wouldn’t know it with Marie Barone running the show. Mother of Ray and Robert Barone, and husband to Frank Barone, Marie makes it her business to get into other people’s business. She often insults Debra and manipulates Ray, showing favoritism to him over Robert. This manipulation and favoritism is a common theme in many episodes, and drives a wedge between the families. She is a proud housewife, who believes that Debra needs much help in house-keeping. This also drives a mother-in-law daughter-in-law feud that lasts the length of the series.

Madylin Sweeten - As Ally Barone


Real Life-

Madyline Anne Michele Sweeten was born on June 27, 1991 in Brownwood, Texas. She is most famous for acting in Everybody Loves Raymond (1996), Toy Story 2 (1999), and Eagle Eye (2008). Though she acts as the older sister of twin brothers in the show Everybody Loves Raymond, she is the oldest of four children and does have two twin brothers in real life. She is currently taking time off from her acting job, doing odd jobs and extra parts, to try and figure out what she wants to do long term.
Character-

Ally Barone is the oldest daughter of Debra and Ray Barone, and is wonderful one at that. At the beginning of the show she is 5 years old, by the end she is 14. She is a good kids that help take care of her twin younger brothers, but sometimes misbehaves and talks back to her mother and father.
