Summay of the Show

The show focuses on the Barone family who live in Long Island, New York. The star of the show, Ray Barone, and his wife Debra, are the center of the action. They have three kids that serve mainly and scenery throught out the seasons. The young couple also has their parents, Frank and Marie Barone, who live across the street along with Ray’s older brother Robert Barone, and they play a much bigger part in the storyline. Robert is a single man who is divorced and lives with his parents, though in later seasons he moves out and gets married thankfully.

Episodes vary, but often focus on Ray’s shortcomings as a husband and father. The whole family has had a hand in Ray’s issues, and stereotypes are very prevalent. Debra is the housewife who does not get enough help from her husband, Marie is the meddling mother-in-law, Frank was the over working father who neglected their kids and is now an old retried man who simply insults them because he is a hard older man, and Robert is the jealous older brother. This brings up arguments, feuds, and debates that may go on for a single episode, or a whole season. The audience can relate though to the fact that a family who fights together still loves each other, which is the underlining theme of the whole show.
